Mason Ohio RV Show!!

This past Sunday, February 13th, we headed out to the Mason Ohio RV Show. We were determined to get there since we had to pass by the RV Show in Dayton Ohio due to bad weather. Mason isn't far at all from Cincinnati, about 20 miles give or take a couple. There were mostly local RV Dealers and a few local campground owners giving out information. There was over a mile of RVs to look at!! My feet and knees however tell me that it was more then that!
We still haven't made a decision as to what type of RV we would like to purchase when the time comes. We LOVE the 5th wheels for there "homey" look, we like the class C Rv's because they can get around almost anywhere. Seems like everytime we get to one of these shows or take a day to go out and look at a local dealer we get more and more confused on what we might want to purchase LOL! Good thing we don't have to make that decision in the near future! It does blow me away as to what they come up with to put in these RVs. All the comforts of home! You can even get dishwashers in some of them! Think I will forgo the dishwasher... just too much weight added to the trailer.
Even tho I remembered to take my camera to the show I didn't take one picture! Poor Dennis carried it the whole time along with about 40 pounds of reading literature.
We did go thru some of the reading material when we got home. Even tho we are sooooo far away from the RV lifestyle by going to these shows, reading all of our material and getting online it keeps us motivated to keep working at getting our debts paid so we can hit the road debt free!
Dennis ended up being off work again Monday due to rain again! We headed up to Winton Woods Campground and made our reservations for 4th of July weekend! We debated as to where to head to this year and just decided we wanted to stay close to home. Winton Woods is a great Hamilton County Ohio Park. The campground has beautiful huge pine trees and the campground is surrounded by a calm, pretty lake.
Here is the link to their website: http://greatparks.org/parks/winton_woods/
I will write more about this nice local park sometime soon.

I might not be posting for a couple of weeks. We won't be "touring" our home town this coming weekend because Dennis is going to have to work Saturday due to all the rain we are having and Sunday is the Daytona 500!

Deer Creek State Park Ohio

It sure seems like winter is longer then usual this year! Okay... it isn't but
it sure seem like it with the amount of snow we have seen here in Cincinnati! Dennis had a gutter job up in Columbus Ohio last week and saw an exit off of Interstate 71 that said, Deer Creek State Park. Since we really like staying in the Ohio State Parks and are still looking for somewhere to camp on July 4th weekend we decided to go up and check it out today! Yes... there is still snow on the ground but it is suppose to get into the 50's today and with that geez isn't spring here yet attitude we decided we needed a break! So here we go!
Deer Creek State Park is south of Columbus Ohio in and around the Sterling Ohio area there is over 2000 acres of land and over 1200 acres of water. Wow! they had alot more snow then we had down south, so it is really hard to take in what the park would actually look like on a pretty spring/summer day.
First we hunted out the campground! There are over 200 sites and there is something for everyone. some very shady spots, some sunny spots. Looks like there are several bath houses which even in this winter month where very clean. We wrote down a few site numbers that we would be interested in and went along to check out
more!
We came upon the cottage and lodge area. The lodge is being redone and so are some of the cottages. But we peeked in for a quick view inside and I was impressed! And what a great view of the lake! Hmmm... am going to have to see about renting one of these for a weekend!!

We found a public boating dock and also the Harding Cabin (which u can also rent) and stopped for a couple of sandwiches and give Katie a chance to do her business :-)
Both of us said that we really just left our house to late today to see all of the park since it was already 3:30 and time to head back home! We hope to ride up here again...maybe the end of March and see the beautiful views and the rest of the park. Of course Dennis wants to check out the lake for fishing!!
Even tho I took my camera with me dumb me forgot to take pictures :-( So I will try to search around for a few and slip them in here some where in the future.
