Traveling in Our Own Town!

<

Dennis and I live in Ohio not far at all from the Ohio river, in Cincinnati. Recently after quite a bit of snow and then a few days of rain the Ohio river started to rise and flood. We decided to grab the camera and go to downtown Cincinnati and over to Newport and Covington Kentucky to take pictures of the event. While we were out taking our pictures we saw a few statues and landmarks and realized we have been living and working here in cincinnati a long time. I have lived here all my life and Dennis about 15 years. In all of those years we really have missed out on alot here in our own home town!
Here we were trying to sell things, save money and get info on how to get on the road fulltime in a RV and we were going to leave a place that we have yet to REALLY discover! So our goal this year is to REALLY SEE our hometown and surrounding area!!
My idea is to get a map and circle a certain mile radius and start checking it out!! Its amazing really what we have probably missed right here! I am hoping to get started on playing tourist this Sunday and start adding pictures to our blog!
Heck!! Why wait to be tourist when we can do it right here at home!

The second two pictures were taken from Riverside drive which is in Covington Kentucky. Riverside drive runs along the riverfront and features beautiful old huge homes. The water that you are looking is normally a city street! Notice on the right side of the pictures the large riverboat that is almost moored up to the trees!!

Our Monthly Update!

Wow another month about gone! Its amazing how fast the days and months go by. We haven't accomplished too much on our way to life on the road this past month. Well... I guess maybe we have. We are now out of bankruptcy and that was a major hurdle! Since we are now out of that mess we can now seriously sit down and do our figuring and really get started on the road to saving $$ so we can get on the road!
Even tho we know its going to be years before we get on the road I still hope to get at least one thing done a month to get us to our goal. Even by saving $$ for the month is a postive step in my mind.
We did purchase a couple more books and videos to read and watch off of Ebay today so we are looking forward to kicking back and watching them. Because of weather being so bad we weren't able to get to a rv show that was in Dayton Ohio the past two weeks but the plan is to get to a show here in Mason Ohio the middle of February. Even tho we are unable to buy at this time at least when we go to these shows they renew our spirit of going fulltiming!
Will be back writing again within the next month!

More Flood Pics

As I wrote in my previous post we are going to start traveling our surrounding area as tourists! To get us started below are a few pictures of the January 2005 Ohio River flood!
The first picture above was taken on the Ohio side of the river at what we Cincinnatian's call the Public Landing. Normally there is a huge stone seating area which is about 50 feet or more tall where people can sit and enjoy the river and behind that seating area is usually a nice concrete river walk and green space. As you can see in this picture, I don't think anyone wanted to take a seat on these!

New Year & So Far To Go!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Well here we are another year beginning and still soooo much to go before we can head out the door to go fulltiming! Because our finances haven't been in very good shape for awhile we really have so much to do. We have yet to start saving for our truck and our Rv! But we have been working hard to get our bills paid in full. We want to be able to go fulltiming debt free!! Dennis and I figured if we can at least buy and pay off our tow vehicle that when it comes to sell the house we can use the proceeds to buy a rv and still have about a years worth of $$ left in the bank!
I guess we have gotten a few things done since I have written last. Dennis has painted the second bedroom, got it done last week. And has started on the basement. Its a very slow process. With his work being outside mother nature has put a crimp in the ole budget!
We did get to a 2005 rv show over in Newport Kentucky this past Saturday and are planning on going to one in Dayton Ohio this coming weekend! I have saw quite a few 5th wheels and 1 travel trailer that we love.
As we get things done I will come back and post more
